Los Trópicos

Los Trópicos

The tropical jungles are one of the most important ecosystems on the planet, both because of the species they hold and their vegetation.

Los Trópicos, the new habitat at Selwo Marina holds a range of species of terrestrial habits like the muntjac, native to the jungles and forests of southern Asia, which gets its name from its sound, rather like a dog's bark; the white-faced sakí, a primate originally from South America whose male has a striking white ring of fur around its face or birds like the scarlet ibis with its beautiful bill and elegant figure, whose name comes from the colour of its plumage.

The tropical ecosystems are located in the region between the Tropics of Cancer and of Capricorn, above and below the Equator. Situated in Africa, Asia, Oceania, Central and South America, they include Amazonia, the largest tropical jungle on the planet.
