The Dwarf Palm has a shrub-like shape. Its fan-shaped leaves have long stalks with lateral spines. Its flowers are small and yellow. It bears fleshy, ovoid, reddish-yellow fruit that is not edible.
DISTRIBUTION: Native to the Mediterranean region
INTERESTING FACT: It is used as an antidiarrhoeal, astringent and nutritional agent. Its central buds are used in food. The fibers of the leaves are used in the manufacture of mats.
